Bears Gotta Be Careful Too!

This is a picture taken by Ann Froschauer of a bear being careful not to fall into the water as he hops on rocks. Ann spotted the bear while hiking with Missy Kane and the Friends of the Smokies on Old Sugarlands Trail.

Prehistoric Monster?

No, it’s not Godzilla, it’s a Giant Gyrinophilus Ann Froschauer found this weekend while hiking along Road Prong Trail.

And if this guy doesn’t seem tough enough already, Ann says if you look real close you can see black borders highlighting lighter-colored lines that run from its eyes to its nose. She says these are used like “gun sights.”

And here are some beautiful asters.

Possum in a Pear Tree

It’s Peter Possum patiently waiting for a pear to fall off a pear tree so he can eat it.
