Boogertown Gap is a local Old-Time String Band playing & singing traditional Mountain Music on traditional instruments, & Celtic/classical music on flute and guitar. Ruth Barber and Keith Watson, husband and wife, are the foundation of Boogertown Gap (BTG), but they also perform regularly with a fiddler and bassist.
Boogertown Gap performs Old-time music throughout the local area at a variety of events and functions including for the cities of Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Pittman Center and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They have performed for live radio shows on WCNY in central New York, W50’s Country in Cosby, TN and WDVX in Knoxville. They also perform for wedding ceremonies, receptions and private parties.
The music of BTG includes ballads, fiddle tunes, dance tunes, and American compositions from as early as the 16th century through the Civil War and up to the early 1900’s. Boogertown Gap currently has one CD, “Old-Time Appalachian Music” available through the Great Smoky Mountains Association (GSMA) web site, and all GSMA stores in the area.
