A new resturant in Gatlinburg is a must to try - it is Cuban - on the Parkway close to light #3. The exterior is very colorful on the outside - so it is easy to spot. Food is very well prepared and delicious. The Wild Plum Tea Room is also a favorite.

You can't beat DEADBEAT PETE'S in Townsend. It looks kinda rough from the outside, but is warm and inviting on the inside. The food is great and they serve lots of it! The variety will suit any cuisine your are craving!

the restaurant with warm pretzels and beer cheese is toward the end as you are going toward the entrance to the park on the left. It is in a little shopping village where you can park in the back and walk to all the shops. I can't remember the name but it has a bunch of glass windows on the outside and a place upstairs where you can sit and eat. It has a rustic look to it. Kind of like a cabin. It is our favorite place to eat too! we just came back in March -08. we had the pretzel appetizer (it came with 5) and beer cheese to dip'em in! UMMMMM

Now's the time to get wilderness designations for the Smokies. It was blocked for years by Jesse Helms because of the Road to Nowhere. Now with the road issue solved (more or less) our attention should return to the wilderness bill. Talk to your congressperson!

Four of us just spent three days, Oct. 22-24 on a "leaf peeping" road trip through Webster, Waynesville, Cataloochee Valley, and Maggie Valley, NC as well as Pigeon Forge, Wear's Valley and Townsend, TN. Fantastic color! We thought the best ever.
