Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to large populations of synchronous fireflies, with Elkmont being perhaps the most famous location in the world for this species. Thousands of people enter a lottery to watch thousands of fireflies displaying on peak nights in May and June.

Featuring "The Firefly Photographer," Radim Schreiber (fireflyexperience.org), this official park calendar shows a different stunning time-lapse image of fireflies for each month. Quotes from Schreiber about the making of the images are complemented with notes about the natural history and environmental fragility of species such as the Smokies' famous synchronous and blue ghost fireflies.

11" x 11" wire bound.
