Bat garland for Bat Week

Halloween will be just a bit different at our house this year. Since we aren't going to our normal, crowded Trick or Treat spots, we're creating our own festive flair at home. My daughter, Emily, is nine now, and she loves this holiday. She also loves bats! So, when I found this cute and simple bat garland on Good Housekeeping's website, I knew we had to make it.

I happened to have orange yarn and black card stock in my stash of craft supplies. Using the template provided, Emily and I were able to create a cute—not spooky—garland of flying and roosting bats to hang in our dining room. Just cut, fold, and tape, or get some of the tiny clips they use on the website for attaching the bats. Adorable! What a fun way to decorate for Halloween and to celebrate our favorite flying mammal during Bat Week.
